About the course

The Offshore Wind Upskilling Course is a three‑day, practitioner‑led program designed to give working professionals a clear, end‑to‑end understanding of how offshore wind projects are developed, designed, built, operated, and ultimately retired in the U.S. market. Day 3 addresses the longest and most capital‑intensive phase of an offshore wind project: operations. Participants examine O&M strategies, contracting models, vessel and port requirements, workforce considerations, and performance drivers over a 20‑ to 30‑year operating life. Offshore transmission systems—substations, export cables, grid interconnection, and reliability challenges—are explored in detail. The course concludes with safety, compliance, statutory requirements, and decommissioning, emphasizing lifecycle responsibility and long‑term planning. This final day ties the full project lifecycle together, reinforcing how early decisions affect operational risk, cost, and end‑of‑life obligations.
